It is not a secret that everyone wants today to stay in shape and be healthy. However, in most cases it is not so easy: nature does not endow everyone with slim figures, and most people have to go on a diet and to work out regularly in order to keep themselves physically fit.
For many people regular working out can be quite challenging, especially if they do not see quick results and lose motivations. However, we know some proven ways to motivate yourself to exercise, and we are ready to share them with you in this article.
How to motivate yourself to workout?
To establish a timetable for your exercises
It is extremely important to mark in your calendar the exact days when you are going to work out, and to hang this timetable somewhere in plain sight. Every time you look at it, you will remember that the particular days and hours are intended to working out. The statistics shows that those people who have such timetable do working out more regularly and achieve better results.
Use your music
If you listen to your favourite music while working out, it will not only motivate you to continue, but also help you to stay energized. Music can become especially good companion during jogging: you will not get bored and tired too fast. Moreover, scientists have also found out that music has a positive effect on your body and brain in general.
Hire a personal trainer
If you are struggling hard with motivation and constantly find excuses to go to a gym, then the best and the most effective way for you not to skip working out classes is to hire a personal trainer.
A good professional will help you to develop your personal timetable and programme and will not allow to waste your time and efforts. Of course, personal trainers cost a lot, but in most cases it is a worthy investment and the only one solution, especially if you are lazy and demotivated.
Set a particular weight loss goal
An effective way to motivate yourself is to realize, what exact results you want to achieve. Therefore, when you decide to start working out and do not want to give after a couple of attempts, it is worth setting a goal to lose a couple of kilos by a certain date.
The only thing that you should remember is that your goal must be realistic: thus, do not make a plan to lose 10 kilos in one week, even if you really want and need this.
Work out with friends
It is a lot more fun and much more interesting to exercise together with someone, especially if you share the same goal and want to achieve similar results. If you work out with a friend, you can motivate each other and do not allow to skip trainings. Moreover, you can also do something together afterwards – to get a juice or coffee for example.
Get enough sleep and go to bed earlier
If you go to bed around 1 or 2 AM, it is obviously that you face problems with motivation to work out, especially if the only time when you can exercise is morning. When you do not get enough sleep, it will be much harder if not impossible to make yourself to stand up and do some physical activity.
Even if you usually work out in evening, going to bed earlier and sleep at least 7 hours is very important, otherwise you will not have enough energy to complete even a short working out program. Moreover, doing working out when you are tired is absolutely unhealthy.
Keep on moving
One of the most common mistakes of people in the modern world is that they sit for many hours in their offices without movements at all and then complain about low motivation to work out after a working day. If you do not move at all throughout the day, you will likely feel lethargic and lazy to exercise in the evening.
In order to avoid this, it is recommended to constantly move during the day. Even if you work in an office, you can stand up every 20 minutes and stretch yourself. You can also go for a short walk to another office or to a cafeteria in order to get a cup of tea or coffee. Just do anything to make energy flow in your body, and you will see that working out will stop being such a challenge for you.
Find people who inspire you
Try to remember people who are the models of beauty and shapeliness for you: it can be an athlete or a celebrity. Find a picture of this person, print it and hang somewhere, where you can see it often. You can also attach this photo near your timetable for working out.
Some people also watch videos with people who inspire them before going to a training: it helps them to stay motivated and focused before and during exercising, since they have a clear picture in their mind of how they can look like.
Make working out entertaining
Usually people start losing their motivation to continue their working out sessions because they get bored. But the problem is that they simply have not found the working out activity that is interesting for them.
There are so many opportunities to exercise in an entertaining and funny way: yoga, dancing classes, aerobics, circus classes and many others. You just need to find your own, and you will be looking forward to your next workout every time.
Drink enough alkaline water
If you consume to much acidic foods and drinks during the day and do not drink enough water, you will probably feel painful inflammation in your muscle tissues after workouts and will get demotivated. Thus, in order to make your exercised less painful and more enjoyable, drink at least 2 liters of alkaline water every day – it will not only eliminate pain and inflammation, but also to help your digestion.
